In NBA 2K26 MyTEAM, the shooting guard (SG) position is one of the most influential roles in lineup construction. The best cards at this position are not just scorers—they combine perimeter defense, movement-based shot creation, and flexible animations with NBA 2K26 MT that determine how consistently they perform against elite competition. Understanding how to evaluate these cards is more important than simply chasing overall ratings.
A strong SG in MyTEAM is typically defined by four core factors: shooting consistency (release speed, green window stability), movement package (dribble style, escape, and separation tools), defensive versatility (ability to guard 1–3 or switch), and finishing ability (especially contact dunk packages and lane aggression). Cards that excel in at least three of these categories usually rise to the top tier.
At the lower end of the top 10, cards like Kyle Korver illustrate why name recognition doesn’t always equal in-game dominance. Despite being a strong shooter with good size at 6'7", his limitations in dunk packages and less optimal jumper upper animations reduce his impact. Similarly, Franz Wagner provides a much more balanced profile-6'10", solid speed, and respectable shooting-but lacks elite shot creation, which keeps him in a “safe but not dominant” tier.
Moving into the mid-tier, Glenn Robinson and Payton Watson represent the archetype of “complete but not explosive” SGs. Both offer strong defensive stats, respectable three-point shooting, and serviceable dribble packages like Curry escape or pro-style movements. However, neither has a truly elite jump shot or top-tier creation ability, meaning they perform best in structured offenses rather than isolation-heavy gameplay.
Nick Young marks a noticeable step up. At 6'7" with a 7'0" wingspan, he introduces a more dangerous offensive profile. His shooting is more reliable under pressure, and his slashing is significantly better than the previous tier. While not flawless-his behind-the-back and some dribble sigs are average-he begins to feel like a legitimate offensive threat rather than just a role player.
At number five, Paul George sits in an interesting position. He remains one of the best two-way options in the game due to elite defense, strong finishing, and a smooth jump shot. However, his dribble package is not as strong as newer meta cards, which limits his ability to consistently break down defenders. In contrast, Trey Murphy offers a similar build with more fluid movement, better dribble sigs, and comparable shooting, making him arguably more efficient in competitive settings.
The top tier begins with Wesley Johnson, a card that overperforms due to elite animation synergy rather than raw stats alone. Despite being a Pink Diamond, his combination of a fast release (Cole Anthony base with Steph upper), explosive dunking, and highly effective movement tools makes him feel closer to endgame cards. He is a prime example of why animations often matter more than overall tier.
At number two, Peja Stojaković stands out as a 6'10" offensive powerhouse. His height alone creates matchup problems, but his shooting consistency and clean movement package make him one of the most reliable scoring options in the game. He excels in catch-and-shoot scenarios and can also create enough separation to remain effective off the dribble.
At the very top, Ricky Davis edges out Peja due to superior movement fluidity and more complete offensive creation tools. While slightly smaller at 6'7", he compensates with a smoother dribble style, quicker escape animations, and more versatile shot creation options. This allows him to generate offense in more situations, especially in tight, competitive matchups.
When building your own lineup, the key takeaway is this: do not prioritize height or overall alone. Instead, focus on animation quality, especially jump shot base speed and dribble escape mechanics. Cards like Wesley Johnson or Ricky Davis often outperform higher-rated options because they create more separation and maintain offensive pressure more consistently.
